The Riverland needs a DES Provider who understands people with disability; the Riverland needs mobo.
Feeling stuck and dejected, due to the limited number of businesses in the Riverland, and even fewer entry level positions available, Raymond felt that no matter how hard he tried, how many jobs he applied for each month, he wasn’t getting anywhere.
Raymond had been doing his very best to find meaningful employment in the Riverland alone but found himself with large gaps in his employment history (up to 10 years at a time). Which caused him to be unable to upkeep a healthy diet, keep up with his expenses, nor even to buy himself new clothes on such a limited budget. Nearing the end of his rope, and in serious need of help to secure meaningful employment and get his finances back on track, Raymond turned to mobo Employment Services in Berri.
mobo worked with Raymond to address the barriers he faced in finding employment, including providing guidance in confidently pursuing contact with employers, developing resumes and cover letters for all jobs he went for, and empowering Raymond to build his confidence, his abilities, and his faith in his strengths that he would use in employment. mobo also supported Raymond in his fortnightly reporting to Centrelink, as he had previously been distressed by the robodebt ordeal, a scheme started in 2015 and was highly stressed by the complexity of the process and the unknowns of correctly submitting his information every fortnight.
Raymond had been a client of Berri’s Employment Service for many years, and said of the support he received,
“If I didn’t have mobo, I wouldn’t know where to go, or who would help me. mobo went above and beyond with understanding for my disabilities and barriers and treated me with the respect and compassion. The support and encouragement mean more to me than what I can put into words.
After years of support, and hard work by Raymond, he was finally successful in gaining meaningful employment, and for the previous 6 months, has been able to sustain it. Including being supported to travel to his two-day orientation in Mildura, Victoria, empowered to attend thanks to mobo covering his accommodation expenses.
Raymond is very grateful for the support that mobo has given him, not only has he finally gained meaningful employment, but his new financial freedom has given him the ability to have consistent healthy meals, and the stress of keeping up with his bills and financial needs is all together relieved. In gratitude, Raymond has said,
“My life has turned around, and that’s thanks to Steph and Renae at mobo. I’m thrilled with the growth of my confidence since starting work, knowing that I wouldn’t have gotten this far without mobo’s support, and going forward, I know that mobo will be there for me no matter what.”
