Since joining Mobo around 14 months ago, Aaron has experienced the ups and downs of preparing for and finding meaningful open employment where he can prosper. By his side every step of the way, the Employment Services team at Mobo’s Salisbury office has been there for him, supporting, empowering, and motivating him to put in the work to forge his path to meaningful employment where he can prosper.
Aaron, like many Australians lives with mental health conditions that greatly impact his self-confidence and motivation. At Mobo, we work closely with Aaron, having in-depth conversations about the employment goals that aren’t just realistic, but well within his capabilities to achieve. We worked with Aaron to put together a plan for him to develop his skills and pursue meaningful employment where he can engage his interests in data entry, bookkeeping and administration.
Making steady progress at a pace that works for Aaron, we have been able to support him to grow his confidence, and to help him understand that finding meaningful employment would represent a positive change in his life and his outlook on it.
As part of his individual Employment Plan and journey to find meaningful employment, Aaron participated in the four-day Empathy not Sympathy program, where he noticed a subtle improvement to his confidence and motivation level. However, the road to open employment is not without its bumps, as Aaron worked to find, and ultimately gain a work experience opportunity, unfortunately, that work experience didn’t result in ongoing employment, putting a dent in his confidence and motivation.
Like a brave soldier, Aaron picked up his confidence and continued marching on, forging his path to achieve his dreams in employment. Taking a new approach to his employment journey, Aaron has enrolled in a Certificate III of Business and Administration, and while he’s still receiving ongoing support and encouragement from the team at Mobo, he’s determined to complete his studies. Knowing that staying motivated and putting in the work he needs to earn his certificate will undoubtedly support him to find meaningful employment and allow him to live the life he wants.
Aaron still has some work to do in achieving his goals in employment, but we can all agree that Aaron has come a long way since he joined Mobo back in February 2023, and we hope you’ll all join us in celebrating how far Aaron has come and wishing him the very best as he continues traveling his road to an open employment opportunity where he can prosper.
