Over Brett's 14 years of meaningful employment at Mobo's Salvage and Save site in Goolwa, one of his long-term goals was to obtain his forklift licence! After much study, and a couple hurdles, with the help of Riley, one of Goolwa's Workplace Supervisors. Brett has finally achieved that goal and opened the door to many more opportunities within his day-to-day tasks at Salvage and Save and beyond!

Brett, like many of the people working at Salvage and Save Goolwa, lives with a disability, and receives NDIS Funding which allows him to participate in Supported Employment with Mobo Group. But no disability can stop him from chasing and achieving his dreams – one of which he's just struck off his list of things to accomplish in life!

It's not been the easiest task, with a lot of mathematical, theoretical, and practical studying, before facing a written examination. Brett and Riley both went for their forklift licence, working together, encouraging and supporting each other to achieve. Mobo supported both employee and supervisor through covering the costs of the training, but Mobo couldn't have provided Brett with the level of dedication and motivation he had to accomplish his dream – going as far as to reading and studying his textbook every night!

Finally, the date of the written examination arrived, while Brett and Riley were both a little nervous, they were committed to doing their best. Riley achieved his accreditation and his licence, Brett sadly, did not. However, their instructor noticed just how determined Brett was to achieve, noting that out of all that had taken the test that day, Brett performed best during the practical section of the exam. So, he offered Brett the opportunity to retake his examination verbally.

Given a second chance, and a new, stronger motivation to succeed, Brett and Riley worked together to make sure that Brett knew everything he needed to know from start to finish and in reverse. Nervous, and with the support of his father, Brett travelled back out to Lonsdale to retake the examination...

Later, Brett's instructor called our Salvage and Save site to give Brett his results, on speaker with our Site Manager, Brett and Riley – he told him that he had passed with flying colours!

A huge congratulations and impromptu excited celebrations broke out in the lunchroom! Brett had accomplished his dream of certification in operating a forklift! His hard work and motivation had paid dividends, and he could now participate further in his employment at Mobo Group!
